Current Alberta calculation
The Government of Alberta’s common-document fee schedule, effective May 1, 2026, lists a transfer of land at $50 plus $5 per $5,000 of land value and a mortgage at $50 plus $5 per $5,000 of principal. The calculator rounds up to the next $5,000 increment.
Worked example
For a $650,000 property with a $520,000 registered mortgage, one title and no other charges:
- Transfer registration: $700
- Mortgage registration: $570
- Total: $1,270
Inputs and assumptions
- Property or transaction value
- Mortgage principal — leave blank when no mortgage is being registered
- Transfer base fee, charge and value increment
- Mortgage base fee, charge and principal increment
- Additional titles affected — entered separately for the transfer and mortgage
- Other registration charges or credits — optional
Calculation details
Transfer fee = transfer base fee + rounded-up value increments × charge per increment + additional transfer-title fees. Mortgage fee uses the same structure with the entered mortgage principal. Other charges are added and any credit is deducted without reducing the result below zero.
